Comparing Price Points?
It's important to understand when price shopping for wall and vehicle wraps, everything boils down to square footage. From the inks and media to the install itself. This industry relies heavily on accurate square footage numbers to order the correct amount of materials and estimate for labor appropriately.
A few things you can do as a consumer to help assure you're getting what you're paying for is...
1) Verify that the square footage of film you're being charged for adds up to what the vehicle actually is. It's really easy to mix a couple numbers around and vastly change the amount of film you project for a job.
2) Understand the going rate for the market you live in. As a consumer in the PNW, prices range anywhere from $15-$18 per square foot for vehicle wraps. Wall murals can be anywhere from $10-15, depending on the scale and complexity of the project. To find out what you're paying and if it's reasonable or not, try this.
Take you're estimate total and divide it by the square footage of the wall or the vehicle. The number you get is what you're paying per square foot.
VEHICLE EXAMPLE: $4,350 (estimate) divided by 287 square feet (Ford F150) = $15.15/Square Foot
WALL EXAMPLE: $3625 (estimate) divided by 320 square feet (40'x8' wall/window) = $11.32/Square Foot
3) This is probably the easiest one to tell if the establishment providing the estimate is being honest. They should be able to tell you what you're paying per square foot in a rather reasonable amount of time. That number is so crucial to knowing where your profit margins are, how much film/laminate needs to be ordered, how much ink is going to be used, etc. To not know, is a sure sign of deception.
